While attending Colorado State University, I was exposed to Dr. Temple Grandin’s work in Animal Sciences and how she lived her life with Autism. In the fall of 2009, I heard Dr. Grandin speak online about Autism and her theory of how the mind works. During her lecture, she mentioned the need to assist employees with Autism to better utilize their skills in the workplace. Her declaration spoke to me and led me to the topic of my dissertation and helped me find my passion, which is helping people in the workplace with performance management specifically pertaining to employees with Autism.
My passion as a human resources professional is to work with individuals and teams to better understand what skills they bring to an organization that help the individual, team, and organization succeed. I have the opportunity to help employees discover their passions and match them with career opportunities.
My area of focus is for youth through professionals seeking to explore career options, executive functioning skills, identifying strengths, communication, and learning skills and styles, just to name a few in a coaching and mentoring fashion. Additionally, I work with organizational leadership, management, and teams to develop an understanding the diversity of communication and learning styles in the workplace, how to develop performance management expectations and feedback for employees, and to build successful teams.
